Escalier is a multi-brand clothing store that first opened in 2010, sited at the entrance of the Potato Head Beach Club complex in Bali. Proudly fresh, eclectic and selective, Escalier stocks premium leading name brands, alongside new and innovative designers who they nurture and introduce to a wider market.
Opening at the turn of 2019, the newly renovated store showcases the collection with a simple layout, articulated in a material palette that reflects its eccentricity and the dynamic nature of its unique location.
The floor, walls and display tables are surfaced in fragments of red-pigmented concrete, reclaimed from the construction site of the neighbouring Potato Head Hotel. Applied at varying scales and textures throughout the store, the pigmented concrete manifests in a composition of colour and texture.
In juxtaposition with the dense and vivid ground plane, the ceiling floats lightly above the space, articulated in hand-woven natural rattan by specialists BYO Living, and Banana-fibre washi paper locally made by artisan Naruse Kiyoshi.
