Starter Lab is a specialty sourdough bakery that first opened in Bali in 2017, and has since gained renown for its uncompromising quality and experimental approach to natural yeast bread making. The latest venue in Singapore features a café space, allowing guests to enjoy oven-fresh bread on location.
Presenting a technical yet playful aesthetic, the bakery’s design reflects the scientific discipline behind bread-making, juxtaposing with its setting in an old shophouse.
The production space is put on display to the guest area through a clear glass partition, revealing the bakers at work. Visitors are invited to engage in dialogue with the bakery, gaining insight to the fermentation and baking process, and the craft and care that goes into each loaf.
